Why do fueds always have to be centered around titles these days? I mean the ones that aren't like john cena/big show dont even seem to have a premise. Why are these two beefing these days? because john cena showed footage of big show and vicky guerrero kissing? That would be a horrible reason for these two to want to rip eachothers heads off and even this is a poor example because these two only began interacting over the title in the first place. It seems like everyone that doesnt have a title or wrestling a champion is just waiting for their scheduled matches. None of these guys have any purpose they are strolling just around in the WWE universe.

Because "creative" (damn does that term feel dirty coming out of my fingertips) has no clue whatsoever how to create compelling drama between two performers other than to throw a belt out there.

Most of my favorite feuds had nothing at all to do with belts, or if there was a belt, there was a logical reason for it to be made personal (most of the time. This IS professional wrestling we're talking about laugh.gif ).

They still try to add personal elements to championship feuds, they just suck at it now...as evidenced by the angle you pointed out.

What's even scarier is the new generation will grow up thinking this IS wrestling (that's if the word doesn't completely disappear).

That might be the most depressing part of the whole thing.

A while back, I think you were the one who started the "Will You Ever Move On From Wrestling" thread. At the time I said I never would but, now, I think I pretty much have. At least current wrestling (other than checking out news sites).

I watch more wrestling than any one sane person should, but NONE of it is current.

Has anyone here watched "The Twilight Zone"? That's a dumb question in the states, but I don't know how famous it is around the world. There's one episode where a faded, elderly movie queen sits in a dark room all day watching her old movies and remembering the glory days.

I feel like that old lady! laugh.gif All the wrestling I watch is, for the most part, ten or more years old. It's cool on one hand to see a lot of stuff I missed out on at the time (very early ECW, for example) but it sucks 'cause there's nothing current I can stand.

There's a part of that Twilight Zone episode where one of the old movie star's former leading men comes to visit her, only he's all old and decrepit like her. She screams, "That's not him! Get him out of my house! He's an imposter!"

That's how I felt watching WM25 and seeing Jimmy Snuka and Roddy Piper. laugh.gif (Steamboat gets a pass because he can still walk).

It's sad that the majority of the current generation will have no idea what they missed, other than from WWE produced DVD's. Judging by the sales of the World Class and AWA DVD's, there's not a lot of interest in the history. So they will come of age thinking wrestling is a bunch of comedy skits, high spots, and underwear ad rejects (both male and female).

I'm with you. I'm finding myself watching mid 80s - 90s NWA/WCW
Original ECW, Attitude Era Raws and Nitros

But when it comes to the current stuff I just watch the clips on WWE.com
With Impact, Raw, Smackdown, ECW, Superstars - it's just far too much to watch.
