...talk about something wrestling related but couldn't find the proper topic for it and it didn't seem worthy of starting a new thread?

Well, here you go!

I propose that this thread exist solely for the the aforementioned purpose. I'm constantly jacking threads with my "side notes" and have decided to remedy that problem.

I'll begin:

Anyone notice how Adamle - at GAB - called Mark Henry's Splash on Tommy Dreamer "The World's Strongest Slam?" Tazz was like, "Uh, that's a splash but..."

Also, anyone else want to stab him in the face when he calls Tommy "The Dream Machine?" Guess we won't have to worry about that anymore...

lol Tommy Dreamer is so pathetic, I'd rather he was fired than make the original ECW look like it meant nothing. He's a pussy face, when he should be kicking the crap out of everyone with a garbage can

Adamle though  every week he says "I was talking with blah blah backstage before the show and he said he wanted to win."

seriously shut the fuck up

Why doesn't a wrestler ever get hit in the nose, or get his buttons pushed and then just get out of character and start kicking ass for real.... that would be entertaining.

Because the wrestler would be fired that very same day for more than 1 violation of WWE's violations. If you wanna see other guys dance around a ring & slap each other untell someone bleeds? Go watch cage fighting or what ever.

Tommy Dreamer is the cheap mans Mick Foley. He's paid to take falls that most of the wrestlers won't. Which is like a UFC guy stoping in the middle of the ring, stick out his chin & saying " here...have fun.." as the other guy smacks the taste out of his mouth. If anything Tommy Dreamer is as close to old school as we have to this day. Would I like to see him break out & go to town on someone with a singapor cane. I would like to think everyone would wanna see that.

Yeah but now they have him in a scorching hot feud with Colin Delaney!

It's soooo not his fault, though.

The jobification of Tommy is a f'ing crime - no two ways about it. He was the Sting of ECW. His "retribution" against C.D. last week on ECW was such a joke. The old Tommy would have beaten him half to death rather smack him around a little and pin him.

I hate how he's been booked into being a "pussy face" as you called him. It took less than 10 years to turn "The Innovator of Violence" into "The Dream Machine".

A crime, I tells ya.

I know... the guy supposedly had the same conversation with dozens of wrestlers every week for months.Thank god we don't have to deal with his cliche ridden douchebaggery anymore.

Just once I would have liked to have heard him say, "I was talking with Tommy Dreamer backstage before the show and he said he really wanted to job out and pick up a paycheck tonight."

One thing we have to remember about Dreamer though, is he gave up his huge backstage contract to be come a jobber himself, unless he though the original ECW was coming back?

Was it actually put to Dreamer in those terms?

"Hey Tommy. You've got a cushy backstage position and all but how about to giving it up in order to put over every man in the company?"

I didn't really follow the story at the time and you'd know WAY more about it than me.

I mean, it really did look like the original ECW was coming back - although very WWE mutated - in those early days. If Tommy did, in fact, knowingly give up his big backstage position in order to become a total joke...well, fuck him. He's an idiot who deserves everything he gets and more.

Dude, you're so right !!!

How can Tommy Dreamer be where he is ?!
I mean the guy used to kick ass with chairs, tables, singapore cane, trash can, hell, even with a cheese grater one the first ECW One Night Stand !!!!!!!
And now he's wearing Summerslam t-shirt, facing suckers like Delaney, and he's got a win on each month !!!!
:?

What don't they brought back the good old ECW style, with all those crazy bastard ready to raise hell on everybody on their way ^^
Screw this PG rating, at least for ECW, they should rate ECW "R", it's this or their PG thing, but they would have to fire Mike Knox (any child seeing his face would run under their mom's dress !!!!)

Mr. Kennedy:

Week before last: Jobs clean to Umaga.

Last week: Shelton jobs clean to Kennedy.

Um, is anyone else confused about Kennedy's carrer arc? I mean, it seems like they really don't know what to do with him right now so they're just having him randomly win and lose every week.

Thoughts?

You know what ?! I think Mr.Kennedy has a huge potential, not only with a mic, but in the ring too !

They should give him 4-5 matches against guys like Deuce, MVP, Jeff Hardy and Benjamin!
Then give him a few shot at the US title, he'll win it !
And next, they just have to put him in the WWE Championship hunt !

sounds good to me ?! what about you guys ?!

They missed the ball with him, he seems stale to me now. Whenever a star is hot they never give it to them (wow that was weird sentence).

Wow wrestling sentences are weird when out of context.

"they were all over him, there was just so much heat when he did the job" :-|

he popped them

I need to choose a new career path.

Gotta agree with both of you guys. Kennedy does seem a bit stale right now, but I think it's only because WWE didn't jump when he was hot and have been a bit apathetic toward his character since.

I also don't think it's too late. Do what Nico said and book him to win against other low-high midcard guys so he can regain some credibility.

And with what Kee said about taking wrestling sentences out of context - here's a paraphrased direct quote from me to ShaneWalker in another thread (I was referring to Kennedy): "...because he's the hot stick man of the moment".

I always giggle like a 'tard when an announcer says something to the effect of, "Cena and Batista are gonna GET IT ON right here tonight on RAW."

Where's Masato Tanaka these days? That guy was f'ing great.

Last night, I was watching an old match from '99 vs. Mike Awesome and got to thinking about him. Those battles make most matches in recent memory seem like a gradeschool slap n' tickle fight.

Masato Tanaka wrestles for Zero1-MAX in Japan. That's been his "home" for a long time now. He also does smaller shows in Japan; Big Japan Pro Wrestling, Apache Army, XWF, Etc. He finally got surgery on his shoulder, which has been injured for a long time, as well. He's gotten ALOT smaller since the surgery. Admittedly, I've been out of the Puro scene for a while, so I don't know how he's been doing recently, but he was just as awesome as he was in ECW.

I have to tell you guys, I wasn't really aware of what ECW truly was before the first ever One Night Stand, I knew a lot of those guys who came down the ramp, and give us one hell of a night ^^
but the Tanaka vs Awesome match, that match was incredible, intensity, violence, brutality, blood, insanity, broken tables, chairs, high risk and everything else, that is truly what ECW is, or to be correct, was !!!
Even JBL couldn't believe what he saw that night, and I'm pretty sure wouldn't be in the ring with Tanaka or Awesome !

This guy Tanaka, he's completely out of his mind, and I like it ^^

just to go back to a point mentionned later, we talked about Mr.Kennedy, and to be honest with you, this has been in my head for a while, but, he reminds me two of the greatest ever ...at the same time!
I'm talking about Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock, he's got a lot of "arrogance" sure of himself ,and he's always ready for a fight, I don't remember him backing down from a challenge! And he's got great mic skills, just like The Rock !

What do you think of that !?!

Much obliged for the info and pic, Shichiroji!

Nico, if you can find old DVD's and/or dowloads of the old ECW stuff I HIGHLY recommend it (that is, if you haven't done so already). I was a relatively late bloomer with ECW. I'd only heard of it until around '97 or so. I was going to college in Pittsburgh, came home drunk one night and found it by accident on a local station at around 3am. I'd catch the show irratically because they never seemed to have a concrete time slot until they got picked up by TNN. I never got to see a live event because they really didn't promote them that well and I never knew they were being held. I lived there 'til '00 and NEVER ONCE heard of a live event until after if happened or not at all.

Re: Kennedy. The stuff I've seen of him when they actually gave him some real mic time totally reminds me of Rock and Austin. No so much in similarities between their respective characters...but in that he definitely had that "It" factor that generally equals a huge star. And like you mentioned, he could hold a crowd in the palm of his proverbial hand when on the mic.

Is it his injuries that have held back creative from going all the way with him?

Old ECW is fucking awesome and definitely lives up to the hype. I have all of the major shows and a few TV's from 1995 onwards. You really have to watch some Public Enemy stuff, they never get the credit like Raven Dreamer etc but they practically made ECW.

Saw a funny headline on one of the news sites today:

"WWE Creative Not High On Wrestlers"

The item was about Colt Cabana (Scotty Goldman), Shawn "Gavin" (soap opera name alert!) Spears and someone else who's name escapes me but that headline is pretty f'ing funny when taken out of context.

Made me LOL.

Anyone else already sick of those lame-ass little promos that air EVERY TIME Shelton Benjamin comes to the ring? Is it really necessary for us to sit through his monosyllabic bullshit in ADDITION to his never-ending entrance?

For that matter, is it necessary for EVERY SINGLE WRESTLER to have a 2:00 entrance? Jesus paint-drying CHRIST I am sick of watching all these motherf'ing entrances!!! Most of them take longer than the ACTUAL F'ING MATCHES.

Hunter: we've seen you spit the water 1000 times and we're still not scared.

Or impressed.

Okay?

None of us are like, "Damn, he must have one hell of a lung capacity to spit that water so high!"

Truth: the little sing-a-long through the crowd has ALREADY worn thin after two times. You're a shitty MC and your dancing ability is slightly better than a retarded kid walking to the short bus barefooted over hot pavement.

Just go to the ring and kick ass like we know you can.

Remember back when the only really long entrances were from guys like Austin and Rock? You know why they were so long? Because the crowd ate it the fuck up. 'Taker gets away with it for the same reason. Santino and the Honk-a-Meter make people laugh.

NO ONE is on the edge of their seat - at home or in the arena - thinking, "Oh! Oh! What's Shelton gonna say THIS time!"

I'm actually liking the Truth, I'm thinking he'd be great to see live for the crowd participation. It just makes me laugh that the crowds have been so deprogrammed to respond to wrestlers that they don't even chant whats up back lol. I think he'll make it and this stereotypical beginning will be phased out. I'm not 100% if he really was in jail, which is funny because if he wasn't he's kind of playing MVP's real life as his gimmick, which I found funny.

I know what you mean about entrances. Plus they are all the same to try and brand each wrestler, but it just makes them look like goons. Every once in a while they just need to walk to the ring looking focussed like (heaven forbid) Chris Benoit. After all they are getting ready for a fight right?

I was thinking it would be cool if they came out with trainers, that pumped them up. Rubbed Vaseline on their eyebrows etc. Maybe some could actually wear ring jackets. Oh right that's UFC and we aren't in competition with them.

Getin make to the first topic in this thread

Micheal cole this week on raw when Rey M was thrown into the ring post "Mysterio was thrown back first into the ringpost then stomach first" :?

Yess quite possible when he was thrown once and how many times have we seen him lose hsi voice by the end of a WM and end up soudning like stevie richards by the end of the night.

and with kenedy when he returns just make him kcik total ass for a month or two cut some promos and rivalry with MVP, fuk i was so excited when i saw them startign somethign up a couple months back and then it just died

--------------------
When I walk to the ring, i hear voices telling me what to do, & sometimes its not the right thing, but its damn sure entertaining

Don't get me wrong, I'm digging Truth in the ring...but his entrance? Not so much. I can absolutely see your point with it being fun for the live crowd and helping him build an identity. I agree that, as he gets over, the whole shuckin' and jivin' thing will be a distant memory.

Oh, and amen on the Benoit entrance thing you said. I miss the old days of guys just - GASP - walking to the ring. They created their characters on the mic and IN the ring, not ON THE WAY to it. There were exceptions, of course, but they weren't the rule. And, yes, I know you know this. :)

I see what you mean with the "branding" of the wrestlers.

im new to this site but from what ive read so far i think its great but i think that wwe has become like a guys version of days of our lives or something its almost predictable and kind of boring. ive been a wrestling fan for almost 30 years and its really went down hill! i think that it will be great to see stone cold come back and shake things up a bit though

Welcome!

I hear you, dude.

I can barely motivate myself to watch the programs every week (and I never thought I would say that).

I LOVE wrestling and have for most of my life but I'll be damned if I can think of another time when I was just so....unenthusiastic about it.

I don't mind the whole "guys version of 'Days Of Our Lives'" thing, at least when it's done well. It's just being done so poorly lately. I thought they were really on a roll around King Of The Ring and leading up to CM Punk's title reign but something just kind of went awry that I can't quite put my finger on.
